Super Shady Speck our newest addition, is a retired
PMU stallion. Specks story went something like this....Cathy
saw his picture and thought he was "stunning" as she put
it. At the time he was in no real danger so he simply
didn't qualify for our help.
Well as luck would have it "Speck" would resurface
a year later when the PMU rancher that owned him lost their
contract. Now all these horses, never trained or broke to
ride would be gelded rendering them no good for breeding, which
was the only thing they were used for. Gelding them was
done in hopes of increasing their odds of finding homes.
What happens if they are not adopted you are wondering, well
they're lives are in imminent danger. These animals will
have a shot at adoption, if not adopted they are likely off
to slaughter there after. When Cathy heard this she
felt it fate that he ended up on her plate again. After
making an inquiry about him it was told to us that Specks chances
of being adopted were less than the rest due to him
having "heaves", a pulmonary disease similar to asthma. This
was all Cathy had to hear, sight unseen she put in our rescue
request for who we now call Super LUCKY Speck. The
end of the story...we are awaiting his arrival.
